Starting point

Hampshire
SO14 1LP

This is a gentle and sociable ride, organised by Southampton Cycle Campaign as part of National Bike Week. This is an evening ride to Hamble for a short pub-supper/snack, and lights are essential for the return.

The route starts from Palmerston Park in the centre of the City and takes a somewhat twisty route out of the City, via the Northam Bridge down to the Weston shore. This rather unusual route demonstrates that it is possible to get out of the city at a busy time using a very quiet, partly traffic free route.

A brief stop at Woolston allows further riders to join the ride (see starting points below).

The ride then follows the Weston Shore, through Royal Victoria Country Park, and follows the Hamble Rail Trail into Hamble Village, arriving shortly after 2000.

There will be a 45 min break in Hamble to allow people time to get a pub supper, and we will leave by 2100, taking the shortest route home, arriving at Woolston shortly before 2200 and over the Itchen Bridge to Southampton Centre at about 2200. By this time it will be dark. **LIGHTS ARE ESSENTIAL**
