This week on wheels: spring back on the saddle

Spring back on the saddle

It may still be cold outside and we’ve seen some snowfall across the country this week, but warmer weather is on its way as last Wednesday marked the start of spring.

For many of us, the start of the spring is a reason to grab our bikes out of the shed and dust off its wheels. It can be hugely exciting and also slightly nerve racking, especially if you’re like me and haven’t quite managed the intended training that was prescribed on New Year’s Day.

But with the countdown to summer well and truly on, now's a great time to get back out on the bike.

In brief

  • Great Britain Cycling Team’s Elinor Barker won bronze in the scratch race at the Tissot UCI Track Cycling World Cup in Los Angeles.
  • UK Sport and British Cycling outlined the next steps that are being taken as part of the independent review into the culture of British Cycling’s World Class Programme.
  • The final instalment of HSBC UK Ride Social #ShareYourRide campaign launched this week. Vote for your favourite for a chance to win an exclusive British Cycling prize.

Mark Cavendish was having a flippin’ good time on Pancake Day as he topped his sweet treat with sugar and lemon.

Many cyclists were in shock earlier this week when Strava went down. Nobody was quite sure what to do but the internet reacted perfectly.
