Starting point

South Yorkshire
S6 5HF

This ride is open to anyone aged 16+ and is also part of the training series for 'Ride for Eric 2019' series where we aim to support those who are training to take part in the 50km sportive on the 19th May.

The rides will take place on: Sunday 14th April, Sunday 28th April and Sunday 12th May.

**New for 2019** Any rider who signs up to at least two of the training rides as well as the sportive will receive a free British Cycling goodie. Just come and find us on the day in the Ride for Eric event arena at Forge Valley after your ride.

This route tackles some of the same hills as when the Tour de France came visiting Yorkshire in 2014, so climbing legs are needed.

Starting out from the Cycle Circuit at Forge Valley Community School the route makes its way down to Malin Bridge before starting the gentle climb up to Dam Flask reservoir, which is popular on the weekends with cyclists and runners alike.

A quick trip through Low Bradfield will bring the route to Agden Reservoir which will be skirted around as the route heads up to Mortimer Road where it picks up part of the 2014 Tour de France route. The reward for this climb is some of the best views in Sheffield before heading back to Sheffield via High Bradfield.

From High Bradfield, all of the previous climbing will be rewarded with some well-deserved downhill freewheeling before the final ascent up to Hill Top. As the name suggests there is some climbing to do here but the rewards are not just fabulous views but potentially an ice cream or cake at the Reserved Cafe in Stannington Park.

From here it is pretty much all downhill on the way back to the Cycle Circuit at Forge Valley Community School.

NB: This route does involve some hills on a main road which can become busy at weekends.
The ride is open to anyone aged 16+ as well as those preparing for the Ride for Eric Sportive but spaces must be booked through this website to guarantee a place. All riders must wear a helmet and follow the safety advice and guidance of our Guided Ride Leaders whilst out on the roads. Please bring a drink, a snack and a spare inner tube for your bike.
