(Cycling)

Hi Cloggies I will be leading one of my favourite bike rides, although as I'm still suffering from knee problems it will be shorter than usual cutting out a couple of hills with no morning coffee stop. The ride will be at a leisurely pace. The ride will be an approx 18 mile linear Chilterns bike ride starting from Croxley underground station (Zone 7) at 11.20am taking in Sarratt, Chenies and Denham before finishing at Uxbridge tube station on Sunday 19th August. The route will be on a mixture of country lanes, minor roads and canal paths. The ride will be mainly flat with one major hill after lunch.

From Croxley we will cycle to the village of Sarratt where we will stop for an early lunch at 'The Boot' pub. There is a village green for those that wish to bring a packed lunch.

The route then takes us through the Chess valley and more pretty Chiltern villages before heading for home made cakes and tea at Denham church. Drop out option at Chorleywood station after approx 10 miles before the tea stop.

After tea we will cycle along the Grand Union Canal to Uxbridge tube station (zone 6) on the Metropolitan line- estimated finishing time 4.30pm.

Travel arrangements
Meet outside the entrance of Croxley tube station at 11.20am. I'll meet you at the tube station. Croxley is in zone 7 and served by the Metropolitan line - Watford branch. From central London, the easiest route is to catch the Metropolitan line from Baker Street to Croxley. From Baker Street, catch the 10.43 Watford branch met line which arrives at Croxley at 11.19.
Bikes are allowed on the Overground, Met, Circle, District, Hammersmith and City underground lines and all above ground sections on other tube lines - see link for details http://content.tfl.gov.uk/bicycles-on-public-transport.pdf

For anyone bringing their bike on the car, Uxbridge and Croxley are both on the met line connected via Harrow-on the-Hill. One day travel card zones 1-9, oyster or contactless. Please bring a spare inner tube
