Ilkley to Bolton Abbey Potter

Just over the bridge, turn left - there is a large open field with goal posts in. This is a nice gentle ride 10 miles return trip from Ilkley to Bolton Abbey and back.  Avoiding the busy main roads this route uses the beautiful country lanes via Beamsley.  Once at Bolton Abbey we will be resting and having refreshments at the pavilion before the return journey. Please be aware that although using the quieter route, it is NOT traffic free.  Also there are hills on this route, all with convenient resting places at the top to catch your breath; but remember there is no shame in pushing your bike :o). Wearing a helmet is advisable; if you don’t have one please do not worry you can still take part.  If you enjoy the bike ride and would like to come again perhaps you could look to buy one then.  It's a good idea to bring some water and you may also want to bring a snack.   You will need a bike that is in good working order and should bring clothes for all weathers - layers are often best.  Look forward to seeing you there!
