This series of rides is for those of you who have new year's resolutions and want to start cycling or if you have just dusted off your bike from the shed and would like to build up some confidence. During the first session we will practice changing gears and get used to being back on our bikes using a nearby car park. We will then do a very short ride around Fairlands Valley Park just to give you a taster. For the rest of the series we will be using the Stevenage Cycle tracks and as we progress use will start to go out onto some of the quieter roads. These rides will be mostly flat but there might be a slight undulation or two but no-one gets left behind we will always regroup after any hills. We will keep the group size small and we will have 2 leaders one will always stay at the back to make sure everyone is ok.

If you don’t have a bike you can still come along. You can hire a bike from Stevenage Cycling hub for the special price for Breeze of £5

This is the fifth of a series of rides (9 February) which will be approximately 10 miles and each week we will add a mile or 2 so by the end of the series of 6 rides you’ll be covering 10-12 miles and we will start to venture onto some of the country lanes.

We usually stop for a cuppa and a natter at the end of these rides so you can get to know your new friends a little better (Covid permitting of course).

Now for the Covid bit
If you are showing any Covid 19 symptoms please do not attend the ride. Also if you develop any symptoms after the ride please let me know so I can advise everyone who attended the ride to self isolate. We will ride at a social distance.
We will do a bike check before leaving but will check our own bikes.
No sharing of personal items.
All of the above is to keep us all safe from the virus.
In view of COVID-19 we will be taking this into account with our ride leading and we will follow govt. guidelines. Please note the following:
• Maximum ride number to be 8 (including leaders). This may change as govt guidance dictates.
• We will not share any equipment so please be organised and bring your own items eg drink, spare inner tube, tyre levers and pump, sun cream and hand sanitiser.
• You should pay particular attention to your bike being in good working order before attending a ride so as to minimise risks and disruption to rides.
• We will ride taking social distancing into account. At the time of writing British Cycling recommend riding at least 1m apart.
• Participants must not attend a ride if they have COVID-19 symptoms or have been in contact with anyone with symptoms
• Anyone who develops COVID-19 symptoms during a ride must inform a leader.
• Anyone who develops COVID symptoms after a ride must contact the leader who will inform British Cycling HQ who will then contact everyone who attended the ride.
You can contact the leader directly via the ‘Message Ride Creator’ tab in the ride posting on let’s ride unless you have their direct contact details already.
