Sport Cheshire Offices No 2 Royal Mews Gadbrook Park, Northwich CW9 7UD

We shall leave the offices of Sport Cheshire and cycle down to the River Weaver, we then drop down to the wide path and cycle along the Weaver towards Northwich passing Jailsea’s boatyard on the way. The River Weaver is very much a Cheshire waterway rising into the Peckforton Hills meandering South then circling North through Nantwich and onto the flashes past Winsford where the Navigation begins. From ancient rile the Weaver has provided a major transport route into the Cheshire heartlands. Our route then takes us into Carey Park, again, following the River Weaver into Marbury Park. We cross the Cardin Bridge and onto the Anderton Boat Lift for a coffee and piece of cake at the lovely café there. The Anderton Boat Lift was built by Edwin Clark in 1875 to lift cargo boats the 50 feet from the River Weaver to the Trent & Mersey Canal. Our trip then takes us back a slightly different route through Marbury Park and back to Elizabethan Way. There is parking if you wish to come by car and leave your car outside the house if you are coming by train the nearest station is Northwich. Regular trains from Chester and Manchester arrive in Northwich. This ride is suited for a road or hybrid bike as there is a few inclines and suited for the more experienced rider. Please bring a helmet, inner tube and puncture repair kit just in case. The ride roughly takes 120mins cycling time with a couple of pit stops for a drink so please allow more time just in case the pace is slower than anticipated or we have a puncture. Newcomers to Breeze rides are very welcome, don't worry if you don't know anyone, we're a friendly bunch.  Dress appropriately for the weather: in cool weather it's good to wear lots of thin layers, so you can add/remove them as needed; a rain jacket is a good idea too. Wearing a helmet is advisable; if you don’t have one please do not to worry you can still take part.  If you enjoy the bike ride and would like to come again perhaps you could look to buy one then. If you need to ask any questions please call me on 07729 114055 or email me at [email protected]
