De Lacy Academy (Knottingley High School and Sports College), Middle Lane, Knottingley, Wakefield, West Yorkshire,

This is an opportunity to meet other like-minded women who wish to start cycling.  You could be a beginner or perhaps you haven’t been out on your bike for a while – whatever your age and ability everyone’s welcome!  Are you responsible for Children? No problem bring them with you, we will let them join in the fun, however, please note that participants are responsible for the safety and welfare of their children at the school.  Breeze rides are designed to be informal, social and flexible and can fit around you. Wearing a helmet is advisable; if you don’t have one please do not to worry you can still take part.  If you enjoy the school and would like to join us on a road ride then perhaps you could look to buy one then.  Under 18’s must wear a helmet to participate. You will need to bring your bike; if you haven’t used it for a while you might want to get it checked out by a female friendly bike shop.   We will be meeting at the Academy at 7.20 so we can get to know each other and practice our bike skills on the outdoor sport courts. After we have performed a bike and helmet check, we shall cover all the basic skills, from mounting, braking, steering, signalling, and getting to know the gears.  We shall discuss the safest way to deal with road junctions, obstacles, and road position, and practice riding in a group for when you are ready to go out on the road with us.  We have a lot of fun playing games, which everyone enjoys. It’s a good idea to bring some water, and maybe a snack to keep you going.  Please also dress appropriately for the weather. Once you have got used to your bike again and built your confidence, you can join us on one of our road rides round the local villages.   Ask us for details on our rides.  All Breeze activities are totally FREE!   You don’t have to be a member of any club, and you don’t pay for any guided rides.  All you need is a bike. Look forward to seeing you there!   Samantha
