Tattenhall Taster

This is a taster road ride and a practise for the Guide dogs for the Blind charity bike ride on 29th September. This route will take us through Whitegate, Little Budworth, Eaton, Tarporley, and on to the Cheshire Ice Cream Farm at Tattenhall. Riders should be prepared for a longer bike ride, and the possiblity of varied Autumn weather. A rain jacket or pack-a-mack is essential. Please also bring a spare inner tube, or puncture repair kit, tyre levers, bike pump, bottle of water and a snack. Cycle helmets, gloves and glasses are recommended.  A road bike or hybrid will be suitable for this ride, but strong riders will be able to ride a mountain bike too. Most of the roads are quiet, but there are several places where we will encounter busy traffic in Whitegate, Tarporley and Beeston, where sensible and positive riding will be necessary. This will be an opportunity to learn the road skills needed when riding a bike, and to learn how to position yourself in the road, and to signal clearly your intentions to other road users. If riders find that 30 miles is too far, in terms of pace and weather, I may decide to cut the ride short and have a cafe stop in Tarporley. This is a charming and picturesque route which stops at a cycle-friendly cafe where you will have the fun of meeting plenty of other cyclists.
