Starting at Blisworth we will head south-west to Roade , then continue to : Hartwell - Horton – Denton – White Hills Marina café (near Earls Barton) – Cogenhoe (nice short steep hill you might know and love !) – Great Houghton – Collingtree – Milton Malsor (see map for detailed route) . Please bring some money for a refreshments stop at the cafe .
The estimated ride duration is based on a steady pace of around 12 – 13mph, but we will always try to adapt to riders in the group, so that nobody gets left behind (on occasion though, if we find that someone is way off the pace, we will make sure that another rider who knows the route rides with them). Any riders that wish to perhaps cycle a little faster on certain sections (such as the more hilly parts), we ask to just stay within sight of group and wait at junctions. Depending on rider numbers on the day, we may split the group into two smaller ‘sub-groups’ to make it easier, more enjoyable and safer to do the route. We also try to be considerate towards other road users and will stop or pull over if holding up traffic too much.
The route contains several hilly sections, so please consider if you can cycle at this pace over this distance before signing up (this is classed as ‘steady’ ride rather than ‘easy-going’ ride, so a reasonable level of ‘bike fitness’ is required). Please arrive at the starting point 10-15 minutes before the departure time, so that the group is not being held up and we can make a prompt start.
Anyone leaving the planned route earlier, or perhaps wanting to shoot off home at a faster pace in the latter stages of the ride, please just let the leader or someone else in the group know.
If you find yourself unable to join the ride after booking, please cancel your space at least the day before the ride if possible (Particularly as there is a limit of 12 riders set on this ride) . If the ride is fully booked and you no-show, you are preventing someone else from joining the ride. Any questions, please message me via LetsRide or on 07886 860468 on the day. See you there – Paul
