Not an 'ordinary' ride!

We will stop at the Penny Fathing Cafe or The Courtyard Cafe in Knutsford. (Pennys were also known as Ordinary bicycles). If you arrive at this cafe by penny, you will get your coffee for free, but we will pedal there by road bikes and hybrids! This is my favourite ride, so I am letting you in on my little secret. We will cycle a loop to Davenham, Whatcroft, Plumley, Knutsford, Great Budworth, Cuddington, Anderton and back to Hartford. The countryside is beautiful, especially as we ride through Tatton Park. The aim of this ride is to develop your confidence, introduce you to new hazards and to extend your endurance. The pace will still be steady, but we will stop less frequently. The route is mainly flattish. Many of the Breeze rides I lead are aimed at new riders, and all are welcome. This is not the case here. It is a challenging ride, where we will encounter several short steep hills and descents. We will also meet several busy major roads which we will either cross, or in the case of Knutsford, ride along for a short distance. On a ride of 30 miles, there are bound to be hazards that we cannot forsee, so alertness is required at all times. You will need to bring a bike in good working order, with tyres pumped up. You will need x2 inner tubes, pump and tyre levers. You will also need to bring a fold-away raincoat and a charged mobile phone. Money is also needed for the cafe. There is a 'government health warning' attached to this ride. Please look at the pace and distance and consider honestly whether this is the one for you.
