We will start at the bottom of Elm Avenue, Newark, and pick up the Newark cycle track, where we will begin a nice gentle loop around Balderton Lake. This is shared with walkers so we will need to be aware of other users.
From there we will join the cycle path and head towards Cotham, which is about 3 miles away. Once there, we will turn and ride the route in reverse, back to our starting point.
The terrain is flat and easy, part of the ride is tarmac and then we will ride on a rough track but it is still rider-friendly. This ride is suitable for mountain bikes and hybrids only - the track is a little too rough for road bikes.
This ride is aimed at beginners or those returning to cycling, who want a social ride or to build confidence before tackling more challenging rides. The ride is approx 3 miles each way.
This ride is perfect for all abilities, particularly those who haven't cycled in a while and want a nice, easy steady-paced ride. We’ll always ride at the pace of the slowest rider so no one is left behind. We really welcome newcomers to our rides.
It's a good idea to bring some water and you may also want to bring a snack if you think your energy levels may need topping up along the way. Wearing a helmet is advisable, though not essential.
