OL8 2BN

Main car park, Alexandra Park, Park Road Oldham

Join us for a short ride around Alexandra Park, a beautiful Victorian park close to the centre of Oldham. The park has gardens, a boating lake and a children’s play area. Toilets are available in the park. A short, steady loop of about 1 mile around the park on well-surfaced and mostly level paths. You may complete one loop or several (we will try for 3 this time). This ride is aimed at relatively new cyclists or those returning to cycling after a long break. You will not need to be very fit to take part! We hope to offer this ride at regular intervals so the length and pace can be adjusted to help you build up your fitness level and cycling confidence. On later rides we may venture outside the park onto nearby off-road paths. Any bike of any type is fine for this ride, but if you’ve not ridden yours in a while please make sure it is in good working order. Most bike shops will be happy to check your bike for you at little or no cost if you don’t feel confident about this. We will perform a quick bike check at the start of the ride but if your bike does not appear to be safe to ride you will not be able to take part. If you have them one or more spare inner tubes of the correct size are a good idea to carry on rides as we may not have spares in your size (your ride leader will happily show you how to deal with punctures if any occur). Most paths in the park are suitable for child trailers and bikes with stabilizers and we will modify the route to suit your needs. Newcomers to Breeze rides are very welcome. We’ll always ride at the pace of the slowest rider so no one is left behind.

It's a good idea to bring some water and you may also want to bring a snack.  Dress appropriately for the weather: in cool weather it's good to wear lots of thin layers, so you can add/remove them as needed; a rain jacket is a good idea too!  Wearing a helmet is advisable; if you don’t have one please do not to worry you can still take part.  If you enjoy the bike ride and would like to come again perhaps you could look to buy one then. Please note all children under the age of 16 MUST wear a helmet. Don’t forget…. Breeze are on a mission to spread the word about their rides, and need your help. If you introduce one friend who goes on to take part in a Breeze ride, you’ll receive a Breeze water bottle, introduce a second friend, you’ll be the proud owner of one of their swish Breeze Buffs, and introduce a third friend and Breeze will send you £15 of Love2Shop vouchers. Read the article on the homepage for more information. If you have any questions please email us at [email protected]r post us a message on Facebook Look forward to seeing you there!
