Starting point

BA11 3FE

Live2Ride Bike Shop, Waterloo, Frome, Somerset.

This ride starts from Live2Ride bike shop in Frome & is an almost completely traffic-free route along Willow Vale to the Asda nature reserve. The route utilises the Sustrans Route 24 & is a mix of tarmac & compacted gravel with very few obstacles. It is a beginner friendly out-&- back route of 1.3 miles each way (2.6 mile round trip). The surface is suitable for most types of bikes although road racers with thin tyres are not ideal. This ride is aimed at those women who have not cycled for a while or who are new to cycling, hence the modest distance. It is open to all riders, as long as you are happy to ride at the pace of the slowest rider. We will practice some basic bike handling skills in a quiet corner of the adjacent car park before we set off, so don’t worry about riding off in a group straight away. Please bring a lock & some snack money as I plan to stop for a post-ride coffee at one of Frome’s local cafés for those of you who have time. I would recommend that you wear a helmet on the ride, but you will not be turned away if you chose not to wear one. A basic bike check will also be carried out so please ensure that your bike is in a safe and road-worthy condition. I plan to run this ride regularly for as long as there is demand, so don’t worry if you can’t make the two advertised dates there will be more to come!
