From Headlands school we’ll head down to Penarth Pier where we may stop to look at the view! We’ll then head for the railway path which we’ll cross and head on fairly quiet roads to the Old Cogan Hall end of Cosmeston, we’ll then follow the paved path through Cosmeston and then dip down St Mary’s Well Bay Road to the sea by Sully Island where we can admire the view and perhaps stop for a drink. We’ll then head back via the traffic free railway path and then a short uphill section on roads through Penarth back to the start.

This is a short ride to Sully to celebrate the longest day of the year. This ride will leave following the Women’s Cycling Taster Day at Headlands School, Penarth which will run from 5-7pm. Details of this event which is free can be found here: https://www.eventbrite.co.uk/e/breeze-rides-in-the-vale-cycling-taster-evening-breeze-rides-yn-y-fro-noson-blas-ar-feicio-tickets-

The route is a mixture of quiet roads and traffic free paths, with a section on slightly busier roads through Penarth, but being later in the evening the traffic should be minimal. There are a couple of hills, but they are not too steep and if you need to walk up that is no problem at all.

We will stop to admire the view (and hopefully sunset) a few times. Depending on how the group is feeling we can stop for refreshments at either the Captain’s wife or back in Penarth at the end.

A safe and working bike, lights (as it will be dusky by the end) and clothing appropriate for the weather, remember to bring an extra layer as it can be chilly by the sea! If you have a spare inner tube/puncture repair kit do bring them, as well as money if you’d like to stop for refreshments. If you need to get your bike checked out then do sign up to our free Women’s taster evening!

First-timers welcome!
