It passes along quiet country lanes through Ratcliffe, and Thrussington before reaching Brooksby Station House, which is a fascinating place. The Vikings got as far as here along the River Wreake and many of the local place names ending in -by date back to that era. Heading back from Brooksby the next port of call is Rearsby which has a quaint ford and medieval style bridge. Cycle route 48 takes us back into the Watermeadows on the pavement as far as Syston followed by a route through a park beside the river. An amazing ride full of surprises a majority of which is traffic free. A typical warm up to Amigos Bike Rides. Look out for the other dates for 2017; 28th May, 25th June and 17th September of 50, 65 and 100! miles respectively. Why not get yourselves sponsored.
