Beacon To Beacon

Figure of 8 loop around West Lancashire. Starting from one of the highest points in the area, there will be a great downhill section not long after the start but likewise a bit of a tasty climb back up to the finish. Route passes through Newbrugh, Mawdesley, Rufford, Burscough, Bickerstaffe, Rainford & Up Holland. Mainly quiet roads but there will be the odd busier section to negotiate. Coffee stop will be at Brandreth Barn, a little under half way into the ride. Look forward to riding with you all on the day. We'll aim to ride at a steady pace of between 10 and 12 mph on this one, that way we can all stay together, enjoy the scenery and most importantly, have a natter on the way round. Please try to arrive at least 15 mins before the ride is due to set off, not very pleasant hanging about in the cold, not at this time of the year anyway. Try and bring along a couple of spare tubes to suit your particular wheel size and do check your bike over before setting out, tyres inflated, all nuts & bolts tightened, chain lubricated, etc. Easier to do it at home than find out there's problem when you get to the start.
