PR1 8JT

Avenham pavillion, avenham park Preston.
The pavillion is situated next to the river, toilet facilities are available. There is parking nearby at Frenchwood recreation ground and Broadgate, both just a short ride along the guildwheel path.

This is part of the Breeze ride Through Winter campaign, participate in 4 Breeze Rides throughout January and February and you will receive a British Cycling Goodie bag.
This route is a good mix of flat and undulating roads with a coffee stop at one of the best cycle friendly cafes in the area.
Leaving the Avenham Pavilion we turn left onto the Guild wheel then right onto Tram road. We stay on this cycle path until we reach leigh brow where we continue on roads through Lostock hall and onto Whitestake. At Whitestake we head south on quiet roads to Midge hall and Ulnes Walton where we head west towards Croston. We skirt around the edge of Croston and join Grape lane where we climb up through Mawdesley. Once through Mawdesley we turn left to head to Rufford for a well earned coffee at Fetlers wharf.
Leaving the café we retrace our steps for a short distance but continue towards Bispham Green. We turn left at The owd barn to join some quiet country lanes back to Mawdesley. We retrace our route through Mawdesley but continue towards Eccleston . Before reaching Eccleston we turn left heading back to Ulnes Walton where we briefly join the Southport road then turn right to rejoin our outward route back to the Avenham pavillion

This rides is aimed at women who are confident on a bike and want to extend the length of their rides. The route is a good introduction to climbing hills. Just enough to get your legs and lungs working but not so hard that you won’t want to do it again !

We will aim for an average speed of 10-11 miles an hour.
Please bring some water and be prepared for cold/wet weather conditions.
Riders are advised to wear a helmet and it is compulsory for those under 18 to wear a helmet.
Please carry a spare inner tube and tools necessary to carry out a puncture repair.
