Starting from - We'll meet at the new Coffi Co, Bayscape which is in the new block of flats by Pont y Werin, by the International White Water Centre. I'll be there from 10am having a coffee if anyone wants to join me. If you're driving there is free parking in the carpark off Marconi Ave on the Penarth side of the Pont y Werin. It's also only a short distance from Cogan Train Station. Let me know if you want more details on parking or getting there from the train. CF11 0SY

From the starting point we'll cross the Pont y Werin and then head up the zig zags, we'll then dip down to the Pier to take in the views before climbing back up and passing through Penarth to pop out at the top of Cosmeston country park, we'll cycle through the park (now tarmacked), along the cycle path adjacent to Lavernock Road then cross and go down to the Captains Wife for more sea views to Sully Island. We then climb back up to rejoin the cycle paths and take the Railway Path back to Penarth Town Centre, before returning down the zig zags to the start.

A short undulating ride from Penarth Marina into Penarth, through Cosmeston Country Park and down to the sea at Sully Island. Quiet roads and cycle paths. Enough hills to warm you up and feel like you deserve a treat at the end, but nothing too serious.

The route is a mixture of traffic free paths, mostly tarmacked plus quiet roads through Penarth. We do have to cross some busier roads and navigate through Penarth town centre, but mostly we are off road or on very quiet roads. The paths are mostly paved, but we need to be aware of slippery leaves. This ride is suitable for all bike types but you may prefer not to do it on road tyres due to the leaves on the cycle tracks. There are two slightly awkward gates on the route too, just so you are aware.

We will stop to take in the view at Penarth pier and Sully Island, but I’m saving the coffee stop for back at Coffi Co at the end of the ride.

Coffi Co is card only so bring your bank card if you want refreshments. A spare inner tube/puncture repair kit would be handy as would a bike lock. Remember clothing appropriate for the weather and gloves!

First-timers welcome!
