Starting point

We'll leave Queen's Square promptly at 6pm, so please be there around 5.45 so we can do a quick bike check before we set off. We'll head out on some bike paths towards the Whitchurch Way and then take quiet lanes towards Chew Magna and then skirt Chew Lake. If it's a sunny evening and if we are all happy to do it we will ride around the (fairly flat) lake, taking the total distance to 27 miles (if we don't do the lake it's around 21 miles). We'll largely retrace our path, but take the Wells Road back into the Centre of Bristol.
This is a fairly hilly route for those with road bikes - not for mountain bikes or hybrids. We will try to ride as a tight group at around 12-14mph, but we'll encourage each other up the hills and regroup where necessary. This is a good opportunity to practise group riding for those who are keen to do so. Please get in touch if you want to chat about whether this is the right ride for you.
Helmets please, and a bike pump and spare inner tube. There's no coffee stop so please bring a drink and snack to keep you going. If all goes well, we should be back in Bristol 8.30 to 9ish, so please bring lights.
