Meeting at the Southern Gates of South Park, accessed from Parkside, we will cycle through the park into the surrounding housing and then beneath the railway line to head east to Middleton St George, where we will stop to look at the botanical wonders at the Whinnies Nature Reserve. From there we will head south on quiet roads to Neaham and follow the Tees into Hurworth and the cafe.
From here it is just a short 4 mile ride back to the park.

For those who wish to multi the day's sport, some of us will be Parkrun touristing at the Darlington Park Run in South Park at 9. Please let me know if you would like to join - Jacki 07795390871

A 20 mile route around the southern villages of Darlington visiting The Whinnies Nature Reserve for a masterclass in botany and local history from our very own cycling ecologist.

Urban side streets through Darlington and then quiet country roads with some cycle path.

We will be stopping for lunch at the Mustard Tree Cafe in Hurworth.

A camera, notebook and something to keep your plants in. We advise helmets and please bring clothing suitable for the weather. A bottle of water. A spare inner tube suitable for your bike is very much appreciated, as are jelly babies.

We never leave anyone behind
