Starting from - The car park next to the RNLI station by the the sea.
What Three Words - functions.socks.sobs, CA7 4AW
Join me on this (almost) circular route starting and ending in Sunny Silloth. Our meeting point is the car park next to the RNLI (free!), there are also toilets nearby. What Three Words for this location are functions.socks.sobs An earlier than usual start time will mean that there should be no issues getting parked, however there is also an overspill car park as well as plenty of on street parking nearby. We avoid most of the cobbles leaving Silloth, and head straight onto National Cycle Route 72 – we will follow parts of this as well as some of Hadrians Cycleway on our ride.
Once out of Silloth we turn onto the quieter back roads, and take a nice scenic route to Abbeytown. In Abbeytown we will stop at the Abbey for a drink and snack (please remember to bring these with you), sadly the tea room has not yet reopened. Our return journey is what makes this the circular route, and hopefully this will take you on some roads that you haven’t explored before. Care has been taken in the route planning to avoid the busier roads, although we will have to cross one at one point. We eventually will rejoin the start of the ride, and for a short distance return to Silloth the way we left it.
On return to Silloth there of course will be the option to get a drink/cake/icecream at any of the shops that are open. Please bring a lock and some money with you in case we decide to do this.
As with any Breeze ride, a helmet is recommended, and this season’s must have accessory is that crucial spare inner tube! If you have any covid symptoms or are required to isolate, please do not join the ride. Signed up and then things change? No problem, just make sure that you cancel your place on the ride, even if this is very last minute, it just makes sure that we are not hanging around waiting for you.
We especially welcome newbies!
