The plan for this ride is to meet outside the Tourist Information Centre and to cycle through Barton and round in a loop. I've put the ride length as 18 miles, but it can easily be shortened to 15. We'll have a coffee stop either at the Deepdale Garden Centre or the Ropewalk in Barton.

It's quite a hilly ride, but the hills aren't particularly steep and everyone can go at their own pace up hills and walk if they prefer to do so.

Helmets are advisable but not compulsory, but please ensure you are warmly dressed, especially if you are normally quite a fast cyclist - we'll wait at the top of any substantial hill until everyone is ready to go on. Please bring a drink, an inner tube, a bike lock if you have one and money for refreshments.

We go out in most weathers, but nevertheless, I will cancel the ride if there is a weather warning for conditions which would make the ride dangerous.

If you've queries, please contact me, Shirley on 07480 409 869

I'll try to post details of the route nearer the time when I've seen the weather forecast - and wind direction/strength.

Quiet lanes and roads with the occasional busier stretch.

There's always a coffee stop and stops to admire the view (if any!), have a breather and a drink.

Helmets are advisable. Please bring an inner tube, suitable clothing (if you have too many layers, you can put extra clothes in my pannier but remember to retrieve them afterwards!), lights and a bike lock if you have them and money for refreshments.

First-timers welcome!
