About the route
Starting point
Meet at the Pavillion situated in by the river Ribble in Avenham park.
Toilet facilities are available and there is parking near by.
This is a pleasant ride along part of Preston's Guild Wheel and then onto the quiet country lanes to Roots café for a welcome coffee and cake. Head out on the guild wheel towards Preston docks and stay on this route until Miller green. Go forward towards Hoyles lane turn right and then left into sandyford lane. Stay on this road until bartle lane, turn left here and stay on this lane till its end. Here we make right turn then almost immediately go left opposite Bartle hall . From here it is just a short ride to the café.
We leave Roots and retrace our steps back to Bartle Hall. Turn right here and continue on this road swinging left at Lea Endowed Primary school. At the roundabout we join the off road cycle path then rejoin the guildwheel path and return to the pavilion by retracing the outward route.
This ride is ideal for those wanting to extend their ride distance and gain confidence riding on the road.
We will aim for an average speed of 9-10 miles an hour.
Please bring some water and be prepared for cold/wet weather conditions.
Riders are advised to wear a helmet and it is compulsory for those under 18 to wear a helmet.
Please carry a spare inner tube and tools necessary to carry out a puncture repair.
A short clothing and bike check will be carried out before the start of the ride.
