PR1 4LX

We set of from Frenchwood carpark and ride along a short stretch of residential road to join the Guildwheel cyclepath. We turn left onto the cycle path and head of towards London rd. We cross this using the cycle crossing provided and join the cycle path that takes us down towards the river. We now enjoy a scenic ride along the guildwheel path, negotiating some cattle grids, a couple of short climbs and take the splendid views of the River Ribble. Look out for little Egrets , herons, swans and the occasional kestrel. Our destination is the floating Brockholes visitors centre where we can make use of the facilities. We then return via our outward route keeping your eyes peeled for deer that can often be seen on the reserve. After crossing London way we continue on the Guildwheel path passing our start point and head towards the pavilion here we take the cycle path up to Miller walk cycle along the park under the railway and turn right out of the park. WE continue to the cobbled bridge cross over and cycle enjoying views of the parks we have just cycled through. At the old railway bridge we turn right through a gate climb up to the cycle path and cycle along the undulating path to preston junction. Here we turn left to descend to the tram Rd bridge cross the bridge and turn right to return to our starting point. This a lovely scenic route with a few hidden surprises to test out your legs.
We will aim for an average speed of 8-10 miles an hour

This route is aimed at women who wish to extend their riding but do not wish to ride on the roads.

The route is almost entirely traffic free. We cycle along the Guild wheel path and connecting cycleways in south ribble. All bikes are suitable for this terrain but must be in a road worthy condition.

We will stop at Brockholes nature reserve where we can enjoy a coffee and take advantage of facilities.

Please bring some water and a snack and some money if you wish to purchase food and/or drink at the coffee stop. Be prepared for cold/warm/wet weather conditions. Riders are advised to wear a helmet and it is compulsory for those under 18 to wear a helmet. Prior to the start of the ride there will be a short bike check and safety brief but please make sure that your bike is in working order before joining the ride. Please carry a spare inner tube and tools necessary to carry out a puncture repair

This is a small friendly group of women who enjoy a gentle ride round the parks and cycleways in our area. We love to welcome new members and we never leave anyone behind.
