This 9 mile route explores some of Swindon’s rich Railway heritage and lovely oak forests. Winding through the stunning Coate Water Country Park, over the "Helter Skelter" M4 bridge and onto the track bed of the Swindon to Marlborough Railway (now the National Cycle Network path 45).
The route passes the residential area Chisledon and the North Wessex Downs taking in the NCN 482 and the old Marlborough to Chisledon Railway Line.
The Three Trees café makes a great place to stop before we ride onwards towards what remains of the layout of Chisledon Camp, before we circle back towards Chisledon and back to Coate Water.

Route rating

A short social ride out for drinks and cake to sights around the Swindon area.

We will be keeping largely to gravel paths, however there will be a couple of short sections of road. There is a short steady hill climb but whether you ride or walk, its through a pleasant green valley.

An opportunity for a break and a drink and food at the Three Trees Cafe after our short climb up in to Chisledon.

You will require some money or card for the stop at the Cafe and face coverings will be required if you intend to enter.

We never leave anyone behind
