Setting off from The Tiny Tea Room, heading down the towpath to Leeds, at the end of the towpath, we will turn right for a small section of road and cycle path, crossing at Bridgewater Place, pick up a short paved section running alongside the river, we will have another short section of road before joining the TPT at Royal Armouries and onto Skelton Lake Services
We will have a 15 minute powder room break, pick up goodies before continuing on to Temple Newsam via Pontefract Lane, using the underpass to access the edge of the park and up to the house.
We will stop for lunch here, having a picnic on the grass, there is a shop if wish more goodies
Heading down the tarmac road we will pick up The Avenue, this is a longish trail (stopping half way up is a must for the view of the house behind) and out onto Bullerthorpe lane then Aberford road, this can be busy with traffic. Turning left onto the towpath we will head for St Aidans Nature Reserve where we hopefully will see some fabulous wildlife and my favourite Oddball, a dragline from the open cast mine which was the original site.
Return route - towpath and TPT to Leeds and towpath back to Calverley Bridge
The towpath and TPT will be busy with walkers, runners, dogs and other cyclists but we will take it steady
This is a fabulous ride into Leeds to Temple Newsam and St Aidans, with wildlife galore
A bit of towpath, trail and small section of road
We are making a day of it if we have blue skies, so 3 stops, Skelton Lake Services, Temple Newsam and St Aidans
