Canals and coffee

A fairly flat route along the pretty Tennant and Neath canals to Aberdulais, where we will stop for refreshments. We return along the same route to Fabian Way, where we will then follow the cycle route behind Amazon to return to West Pier and Swansea marina.

Most of the route is along shared cycle paths, so ideal if you are getting used to cycling again, and not very confident on the road or in traffic.

Although there are no planned stops along the way until we get to Aberdaulais, we will stop as required for people to have a breather, and to ooh and aaah at some of the wild life along the canals.

Riders should ensure that their bikes are in good working condition, particularly their brakes and tyres. It is always useful to carry a pump and a spare inner tube in case of flat tyres/punctures. Although not compulsory, riders are strongly advised to wear a helmet. Please bring any refreshments you require along route, and money for refreshments at Aberdulais.

A nice flat ride, ideal if you've had a break from cycling for a while, and are not ready to face hills yet. Newcomers are always welcome, and nobody gets left behind. The path surfaces are gravel at some parts of the route, so it is not ideal for bikes with very thin wheels. The route is suitable for all other bike types, including ebikes and fold ups.
