THIS RIDE: a long ride (in time rather than length) to and from Canary Wharf to see the Winter Lights Festival. You can see the map of the installations here:
canarywharf.com/whats-on/winter-lights-2025/.
Expect a cold day and have layers you can add on in case you get colder as the day goes on.
DESTINATION: we circle around the Canary Wharf Estate to see as many installations as possible. Some portions of the route will have to be walked, and we should expect crowds, which is why this ride will be long. We will stop at Jubilee Place for food and shelter – bring a bike lock.
THE ROUTE: We go via Bloomsbury, the City and Whitechapel, and return mostly along C3. Those who don’t want to cycle all the way back will have the option to take the Elizabeth Line from Canary Wharf (bikes accepted on the weekends).
This ride is suitable for all bikes.
We aim to be back at around 9.30pm.
If you find this ride fully booked, get in the waiting list as spaces always become available nearer the date. However, please do not sign up if you’re not sure you can join.
IMPORTANT POINTS: *Helmets aren't compulsory but advisable. *Check that your tyres are pumped and bring a spare inner tube and all necessary tools in case of a puncture. *If you have Covid-19 or have been told to self-isolate, or can't make it for any other reason, please cancel your space so someone else can join. *Only riders who booked themselves on the ride will be allowed to join. *Unless the weather takes a nasty turn making it unsafe or unpleasant to cycle, this ride will go ahead even if it rains. Dress for the weather and bring a raincoat just in case. *Please be advised that we video record some of our rides which are later published on YouTube. By joining them you are authorising your image to appear on the video.
