The route starts with a steady climb to the top of the North Downs where, on a fine day, there are magnificent views from above the Devil’s Kneading Trough. The route then follows quiet country lanes, through Denge Woods and on towards Shalmsford Street. We will descend into the valley and soon join a traffic free section of NCN route 18. As we head back towards Wye we will pass by Catha’s Seat where the annual picnic will be taking place. Here we can rest, enjoy some live music and a picnic before heading back to the village. Don’t forget to bring a picnic! Please note that most of the riding is on roads but the traffic free section, though well surfaced, is better suited to mountain bikes or off-road tyres.
