This is a very pleasant scenic ride along the River Taff and out to Cosmeston Lakes Country Park via Cogan returning through Penarth

There are a few short hills, you should be confident with using your gears and cycling in narrow lanes.

We will be cycling on a mixture of traffic free shared cycle paths, quiet roads and country lanes. It is tarmac for most of the way, there is a short section of grit in Cosmeston Lakes Country Park, suitable for all bikes.

We will cycle down the Taff Trail to Penarth Marina, and over the Millenium Bridge, past Cogan station and up a gentle hill and connecting to the quiet country lane to the back of Cosmeston Lakes.

We'll have a stop there (approx 30 min) for 'bring your own' refreshments (drink/snack), or purchase takeaway from the cafe. Toilets are available.

Then we'll set off to join the cycle path along the old railway line back to Penarth and over the bridge on the cycle path to Hamadryad Park returning up the Taff trail to the start.
Bring a drink and a snack, or money/card if you wish to buy refreshments. Cycle helmets are advised.
