Cosmeston to Bute Park

We'll start from Cosmeston Country Park where we can start with a loop of the lake if the weather is kind and we fancy it, we'll then head onto the Railway Path into Penarth Town Centre. We'll cross Penarth on the roads, head down the zig zags and over the Pont y Werin. We'll then join the Ely trail and follow it to Sanitorium Park before joining the roads to cut across Cardiff to join the Taff trail. We'll do a quick loop of Bute Park before heading down the Taff trail to join the bay trail. Before heading back up the zig zags and back through Penarth.

This is a lovely route with a mix of mostly quiet roads and off road trails. It can easily be cut short or slightly extended depending on the weather and our legs on the day. The only real hill is up to Penarth at the end, if anyone prefers to shorten the ride and just meet up at my normal start point in Penarth Marina that's fine. There are lots of options for refreshment stops either in the park or on the barrage.

Remember clothing appropriate for the weather, a bike lock, cash for the cafe stop and a puncture repair kit/spare inner cube is a good idea.
