Cycle out from Handworth - steady 8+

This is a kind of squashed figure of 8 route. We head through the park to loop the large boating lake and do the steady climb back towards the start but instead leave the park and head to on to roads passing via Soho House which could be considered as the meeting place of Birmingham's founding fathers. We then head towards Winson Green passing the famous Black Eagle pup. Once we pass Winson Green Prison we head over to Edgbaston Reservoir and do a loop of this. We leave there heading back towards Winson Green Prison where we turn left, I always enjoy a free wheel challenge here to see how far we can go without pedalling. It is downhill too. We pass James Turner Rd made infamous in a TV program a few years ago called Benefit Street. We then go past Avery Berkel and Black Patch Park the birthplace of Charlie Chaplin. We then head towards the Hawthorns Railway Station and drop down onto the Metro path leaving it the head toward the NCN5. Which we follow along and down the steep decent onto the canal. We then follow the canal until we leave at New Bridge St. We then have a slow grind up Wattville Rd until we cross the traffic lights. It is then a nice steady downhill back towards the park the entrance behind the cricket pitch and back to the start point.
