This ride is a treasure hunt in support of Watchtree Nature Reserve. Watchtree has released a list of landmarks which we have to ride to, to complete the Cycle the Solway Challenge. If you wish you can support the reserve by officially joining the challenge at
https://watchtree.co.uk/events/solway-cycle-challenge/ but of course this is entirely up to you. It costs £15 and you will get a little medal to mark your achievement when you have completed the challenge. At each of the landmarks we will take photos to show we were there, you can also use a GPS track to evidence your accomplishment.
This ride is on country roads mainly, most of the roads should be pretty quiet and it is a lovely area to cycle in, so it promises to be a great ride. It is longer than the usual Breeze ride though, so consider bringing a snack and a drink to keep you going as well as the usual essential spare inner tube (just in case!).
There is a sister ride which will pick off several landmarks but this ride will take in the following:
The Watchtree Stone
The Watchtree Jet Engine
St Andrews Church
St John the Evangelists Church
The Viaduct Bench
Signpost to Rome
Drumburgh Castle
Great Orton Beacon
