In bygone times, Barry Mason, coordinator of Southwark Cyclists, founder of Greenwich Cyclists and organiser of the 2,000 strong 120 mile overnight Dunwich Dynamo ride, used to lead an annual "Southwark" ride from Cutty Sark Gardens to the London Stone at Yantlet Creek in Kent: https://thebikeshow.net/london-stone/. Over the years, the ride has lost much of its "Southwarkness" (http://www.sedgemore.com/2011/10/greenwich-cyclists-do-the-hoo/), but that doesn't stop us from doing it!

This is Barry Mason's ride report from 2005: http://www.cyclistsinsouthwark.org.uk/greenwichcyclists/reports/gravesend050121.html

We meet at Cutty Sart Gardens and start by cycling out eastwards along the Thames Path, making use of the brand new "missing link" section, which takes us to Woolwich. We then join the newly refurbished Ridgeway cycle path, which now includes a Bexley section, out to Southmere Lake and Lesnes Abbey. We then make our way through Erith, Dartford and past Bluewater before having a refreshment break at the cafe on the Gravesend seafront. We then continue to Cooling Castle, St James Church (of Great Expectations fame) and to High Haslow, St Mary Hoo and Allhallows. We then walk out onto the marshes to seek out the London Stone, which should be clearly visible, as it will be low tide by the time we get there. We then return via Lower and Upper Stoke, Hoo and Chattenden and cycle to Rochester, where the ride finishes and we can take the train home.
