This 'Steady Plus' route is mainly along quiet, picturesque country lanes, with a few busier ones. This will be a brilliant ride for you if you want to increase your distance and take on some rolling hills in a relaxed, supportive group. We are offering this ride at a slower pace, aiming to average 8-10 mph over the route, to enable more people to take it on, by taking the pace pressure off. :)
This route takes us out from DCH towards Markyate via Cupid Greens Lane through the lovely undulating lanes of Puddephats and picturesque Buckwood Lane and gliding onto the ridge of the historical Downs from Isle of White Lane. After a comfort break in the visitors centre we return to the Hub on a straight route through Studham and the cycling Mecca that is Gaddesden Row and Lane.

Please wear layers to cope with the Winter temperatures and a rucksack so you can take off / put on layers as you need. Gloves are highly recommended.
Your bike should be in good working order for this ride, e.g. both brakes working & tyres pumped to pressure – though we can help you get your tyres to the correct pressure if you arrive 15 minutes before the ride start.

Please bring a couple of spare inner tubes – as if you have a puncture, changing the inner tube is the quickest way to fix it.

Should you need to buy a spare inner tube, Dacorum Cycle Hub sell recycled ones at 50p (patched); £1 (unpatched); & from £4 new. We are Not-for-Profit, do free bike assessments and will give you an honest price if your bike needs servicing.
