BS5 6AT

A monthly training ride which uses the same 26 mile loop to enable riders to develop their group riding and practise their climbing skills - this route has hills! Please check the elevation graph below. The route is undulating with a couple of significant climbs. It takes in a mixture of traffic-free cycle paths, rural and main roads. THIS IS A TRAINING RIDE so unlike some other Breeze rides we will aim to average a minimum of 12mph by riding together as a group. You will need a road bike, sorry no mountain bikes or hybrids. We won't leave anyone behind and will ensure everyone is looked after. Please ensure you bring a spare inner tube and wear a helmet. Helmets are mandatory on this ride. The route will start out along the Bristol-Bath cycle path towards Bitton at an easy tempo, being courteous as we share the path with other users. We climb Golden Valley Lane from Bitton through Beach toward Lansdown. Once at the top, we ride through the undulating quiet lanes of Doynton and Dyrham toward Pucklechurch then Shortwood and back via the cycle path. This month I'm adding an optional extra climb just before Pucklechurch. It will add less than a mile to the loop and extra challenge if anyone feels like it. There is an optional coffee stop at the end of the ride - Old Market or Temple Meads. We will see what everyone wants to do at the end of the ride. You'll need to bring a lock to secure your bike if you want coffee afterwards - you can always lock it at the start point to use after the ride.
