Meet in the Main Car Park at County Hall, Durham (DH1 5UQ). This is on the left as you come through the gates. Please arrive as promptly as you can so that we can get our pre-ride checks done and get to the fun bit! :-)
This scenic route is mainly on cycleways and tracks, with a few quiet roads.
Starting at County Hall we will ride behind Aykley Heads, through Newton Hall and Low Newton Nature Reserve, and on to Finchale Priory. After taking in the riverside views we will turn back towards Durham, this time via Frankland Lane and Crook Hall, where we will stop for refreshments before heading back to County Hall.
This ride is a mixture of railway paths, bridleways and a small amount of road, so apart from skinny road bikes it will be suitable for all other bikes. It could be a bit muddy and wet in places. There are a couple of hills (up from Finchale and up from Crook Hall back to County Hall at the end), but we will take these slowly and nobody will be left behind. And the views will more than make up for it!
Please come suitably dressed for the weather, bring some money if you want to buy refreshments and make sure you’ve got a spare tube to fit your tyres.
Expect to return to the start point by 3:30pm
