Join us for an 18 mile ride from Penrith. This will be a ride on the road exploring the villages around Penrith. The route is all on good tarmac roads and will be suitable for all bike types. . This ride will be suitable for those wishing to build up the distance they ride. It will also be a great ride for more experienced cyclists.
We will start from Frenchfields Playing Fields in Penrith and we will mainly cycle along quiet B roads. During the ride we will pass through the villages of Cliburn, Morland, Newby, Little Strickland, and Great Strickland and then return to Penrith stopping on the way at the tearoom at Abbot Lodge Farm for cake or ice cream. There are stunning views of the Pennines on this route and we will pass through some pretty villages.
We will always ride at the pace of the slowest rider so no one is left behind. Our aim is for everyone to enjoy their ride and have a fun sociable ride in the company of other women, build up confidence in our riding in a supportive group environment, as well as ask questions about bikes and riding, and make links with others.
Remember to wear clothes that are comfortable to cycle in. It is a good idea to bring a waterproof jacket, a bottle of water and a snack. We always recommend that you wear a cycle helmet.
