Starting from - Porteur Café and workshop, 210 Church Road, Hove BN3 2DJ

This cycling café has a safe place inside to bring your bikes whilst we gather, as well as a back garden where we will do the initial pre-ride checks. There is a toilet downstairs.

The café opens at 8am on a Saturday, so you can arrive early and have a coffee and one of Kelly's delicious pastries if you want to fuel up before the ride. BN3 2DJ

THIS IS RIDE FOUR OF NINE IN OUR 'SOFA TO SPORTIVE' SERIES - going from 10 to 40 miles over 9 weeks, to get you ready for a cycling challenge, charity ride, or holiday.

This is a TOURING TANGERINE ride aimed at experienced riders, 9 - 10 mph on varied roads with more hills.

This is a flat seafront ride, following the cycle paths and quiet roads from Hove through Southwick (over the Shoreham Harbour locks and past the village green) and Shoreham (across the shared use bridge over the River Adur), past the beach huts on Lancing beach, and with Worthing Pier appearing on the horizon as our destination point.

We will pause in Worthing for a café stop, before heading home the way we came.

We will be able to use the public toilets at the Shoreham Locks (by Carats cafe) and by Worthing Pier, as well as the toilet in the cafe at Worthing.

Please check your bike before heading out:
- are both tyres fully inflated?
- do both brakes work well?
- is the chain lubricated?

Also please pack the following:
- at least one spare inner tube for your bike (easier to change an inner tube than fix a puncture by the side of the road, and different bikes need different sized inner tubes)
- pump
- money or card to buy a drink in Worthing (and at the start café Porteur too, if you like)

If you're not sure what an inner tube is, or how to know which size to buy, this little video should help you: https://youtu.be/3uzsEystB-Q
