A lovely ride for a spring day! We will take quieter roads from Ealing, down to Chiswick Bridge and cross the river to Mortlake. We might pause to pay a brief visit to the churchyard where we can see the distinctive, Arabic-style mausoleum of Sir Richard Burton https://www.stmarymags.org.uk/tomb-of-sir-richard-burton/. Then we ride through Barnes and join the riverside path which we follow to Putney. Crossing back over the river, we reach our destination: the historic Fulham Palace, once the home of the Bishop of London, and now offering beautifully restored gardens, a small museum, and an elegant café http://www.fulhampalace.org/palace/. If the weather is fine, we might also linger in the neighbouring Bishop’s Park which offers a relaxing green space on the riverside. Our homeward ride takes us through the quiet roads of Fulham and back to Ealing via Ravenscourt Park and Acton.
