**** This HSBC UK Breeze bike ride is a beginners mountain bike ride, brought to you by a qualified Fundamentals of Mountain Bike Leader. To deliver rides as per the remit of the Fundamentals of MTB Award, I also hold a valid 2 day outdoor first aid certificate. ****

This is a great ride if you have never mountain biked and want to see what its all about. It would also be good if you are returning to the trails after a break away.

The ride is traffic-free, but riders will need to be aware other cyclists, walkers, farm animals such as sheep.

This ride will be on forest tracks and paths, ideal for those new to mountain biking, or wanting to build confidence. The route is on an uneven surface, and loose gravel. The route is largely flat to undulating, with one climb and decent section, this can be walked if necessary. Nothing too technical, the ride will be at a slow sociable pace to suit the group.

There will be a chance for a refreshments at the visitor centre cafe, which will close at 3pm, but we should be back in good time

You need to book a place ahead of joining the ride.

WHAT TO BRING:
- A bike in good working order & suitable for riding off road. Either a mountain bike, a hybrid with mountain bike tyres or a gravel bike with suitable tyres
A bike with front suspension is fine (a "hard tail")
You can hire mountain bikes from the centre, pre-booking is essential though at https://llynbrenig.com/cycle-routes-llyn-brenig/

- A helmet is compulsory for this ride

- Full fingered gloves are essential also

- Suitable footwear eg. trainers (no open toed shoes/ sandals)

- You may want to consider some eye protection - sunglasses or safety glasses would be fine

- Suitable clothes. Something that you will feel comfortable in - but no baggy trousers or clothes that could get caught or snagged. Eg. tracksuit bottoms would work well, layers are good. Consider the weather (a waterproof coat is a good idea).

-A small rucksack is useful

- A drink and any snacks for the ride (you'll find the miles more strenuous than the same road miles - so its worth having something to eat before the ride to keep you going)

- Money for the cafe

- A mask, hand sanitiser or sanitising wipes

- A spare inner tube suitable for your tyres

If you've got any questions or wonder whether this is the ride for you - please do get in touch.

COVID-19
========
Welsh Cycling (WC) have agreed protocols with the Welsh Government in order to comply with the latest Covid-19 guidance & legislation. As a ride leader WC have provided me with Covid specific training so this ride complies with the current regulations and we can keep everyone safe. I am responsible for carrying out a Covid Risk Assessment for this ride and to take reasonable measures to minimise exposure to, and the spread of, coronavirus based on that risk assessment

Based on my Risk Assessment and the current regulations here are the Covid procedures we will need to follow on this ride:
-Please make sure you have up-to-date contact information on the LetsRide system. YOU WILL NEED TO REGISTER & BOOK TO JOIN A RIDE BEFORE ARRIVING
Terms of booking a ride include, “When asked by NHS contact tracers, coaches, leaders and club volunteers are permitted to share details of participants where relevant to support the process.”
- Please try and keep social distancing at the start, finish and during the ride and during any stops we make
- Avoid sharing equipment, tools, food, water bottles etc.
- Practice good hand hygiene and bring your own hand sanitiser or sanitising wipes if you normally use them
- Remember your mask in case you need to go inside somewhere they are required, or we need to perform First Aid on you
- Please try and be self-sufficient on the ride. So we can avoid sharing tools or making repairs on your bike, please come with your own repair kit & spares and know how to use them (spare inner tube as minimum).
- If you're not confident with changing inner tubes etc, maybe think about someone who could pick you and your bike up if needed

Please DO NOT come on the ride if you have:
- tested positive for Covid or have Covid symptoms (namely a high temperature, a new, continuous cough or a loss or change to your sense of smell or taste)
- have been asked to Self-isolate
- feel unwell
Please find the latest guidance from WG on contract tracing
https://gov.wales/contact-tracing-if-you-are-identified-close-contact#section-77145
(NB latest WG guidance is that everyone must continue to isolate for 10 days if they have Covid-19 symptoms or if they have a positive test result)
