Route rating
(0) ReviewsA picturesque route (14 Miles) over three classic gritstone edges of Derbyshire and two moorlands utilising new access on concessionary bridleways. The route starts from the National Trust Car Park at the Longshaw Estate near Fox House, then passes White Edge Lodge, Froggatt Edge, Curbar Edge, Baslow Edge, Big Moor, Totley Moss, Longshaw.
Only three very short sections on road, nearly all on bridleways. The route is mostly dry sandy gritty wide path or wide grass across moorland. Some areas are rocky on Froggatt Edge and can be walked round as they are short. Similarly on Totley Moss some rutting is potentially hazardous and should be taken slowly or walked again the areas are short. A mountain bike is recommended however a cross bike would be suitable.
The main cafe stop is a the start and end of the ride at Longshaw Lodge. On the route there will be a least two stops at around 4.5 miles and 9 miles to take in the views and snacks and drinks brought with you.
Helmet, rain/wind proof jacket, gloves, snacks/ energy food, water, pump, repair kit, tool kit or multi-tool, inner-tube, phone, money/bank card.
This is a beautiful scenic route with great views, a few technical areas which will be taken slowly, extra stops will be added as required with two main stops on the route. The whole route should be less than 2 hours. These are slow/steady paced rides for new and improving riders.
