Starting point

NE6 1BU

The cycle hub, at the mouth of the ouse where it joins the tyne, on the north side close to st peters basin and marina. The hub has food and drink provision, a bike mechanic, wc's, free parking. We may not have a suitable stop off point in wylam so bring your own nibbles and liquid if you need it.

Starting from the cycle hub at the east end the the newcastle quayside we travel west along the river to wylam, stopping for a break we then return on the south side taking on the selection of tracks that the keelmans way offer before crossing the millenium bridge and back to the cycle hub. At around 30 miles this route is mostly 'flattish' but prevailing wind can make it a little challenging at times. Do consider if you are up to this distance, your bike is fit, tyres fully inflated, brakes and gears working well. Bring appropriate clothing for whatever the day looks to be handing out, tools and punture repair suitable for your bike, nibbles and fuel for yourself too. I carry a first aid kit and am a first aider, i make every effort not to leave anybody behind but big mechanical failures will be beyond our control.
