We leave the village of Eccleston and have a short warm up through local lanes before tackling the first and steepest climb of Hunters Hill, which is a 12 to 14% gradient in parts. We get a breather through some flatter lanes over to Lathom and Burscough Bridge. We loop back through Newburgh and up Ashurst Beacon. We have a nice fast descent down Bank Brow through Roby Mill and then a gradual climb back up through Shevington Vale to Wrightington with a flat cruise back to Eccleston.

A challenging hilly road ride around the lanes of West Lancs

Mostly quiet lanes with some short stretches through small towns and villages.

We will take a cafe stop at Eden in Newburgh

Please be self sufficient with your own repair items and any PPE equipment. Helmets are always required on HRS rides

This is quite a challenging ride with a couple of steep climbs and some gradual ones throughout the ride. Best suited to road bikes. You should be confident with your ability to meet the elevation and distance of 31 miles. We will try to ride at 11mph plus.
