From the Cycle Hub on Newcastle Quayside across the Millenium Bridge west on the Gateshead side and returning along the same route. It’s a beautiful riverside excursion suitable for anyone who can ride a bike. You don’t need to have experience of riding in a group.

A very small section involves using a cycle lane on a quiet road; mostly on a traffic free cycle route, partly shared with pedestrians.

As many stops (for a break, a drink or photos) as people want

Your own bike if you like (having previously given it a check including brakes, tyres, chain etc, and with a spare inner tube just in case). And your cycle helmet (helmets are a requirement on the ride). Alternatively the Hub has kindly offered to supply hire bikes, helmets and high-visibility vests without charge. A windproof/waterproof jacket/sunglasses/cycle gloves/ backpack are useful depending on the weather and money for a coffee afterwards if you like. Cyclists usually carry a water bottle, because hydration is important, but this is a short ride and free tap water is available at the Hub before and after the ride so a water bottle is up to you. Wear clothes that won’t catch on the bike such as leggings or rolled up trousers and flat shoes or trainers.
