We start in Cyncoed Village at the corner of Bettws-y-Coed Road and Cyncoed Road (no toilets). We then head out of Cyncoed and through streets and lanes past St. Mellons, Druidstone, Michaelstone-y-Fedw, Draethen to Machen. We then join a quiet trail and streets to Caerphilly, before returning via the Taff Trail to Cyncoed via Llandaff North and Llanishen.

Covid-19 measures in place for the safety of us all:

* If you, or anyone in your household, or contacts have had any symptoms of Covid-19, i.e. runny nose, headache, new persistent cough, or fever or loss of taste or smell, in the last 14 days, or if you feel unwell in any other way, then please do not sign up. I will also need you to confirm to me at the ride start that you and your household are symptom free.

* If you are in the extremely vulnerable category or have been told to self-isolate Welsh Cycling recommends you do not participate in activities

** Please avoid touching others' bikes, or sharing anything, e.g. food, spares, money (ideally bring a card).

* Bring your own hand gel/wipes, drink and snack. NB come prepared to fix issues on your bike yourself, if at all possible, i.e., pump, spare tube, tyre levers. Guidance will be available at a distance.

A lovely loop through the lanes and trails around Cardiff and Caerphilly, with a Cafe stop in the middle. This is a steady 27.5 mile ride, with approx. 1,500ft climbing including two steeper (but very short) climbs.

We will start on Cardiff’s suburban roads, before heading to some narrow country lanes and trails before arriving in Caerphilly. On the way back we will head down the Taff Trail and then return to the start point via some more suburban Cardiff roads. Mostly we’ll stick to quieter roads but the route will include some short stretches on busier roads. This ride is best suited to hybrid bikes, gravel bikes or mountain bikes. As parts of the route are on gravel trails, some of which will be muddy, damp, and leafy at this time of year, road bikes with skinny tyres are not recommended

We are planning to stop at the tourist info café in Caerphilly, opposite the Castle

Please wear a helmet, bring money for the cafe, and a mask to wear.

We never leave anyone behind
