Let's Ride Through Winter to Ashtead Common

Ride Through Winter is Back for 2022! This ride is intended as a tonic for the long days we spend indoors in winter. There is a combination of off-road trails through trees and across commons and slightly faster scenic roads. This would be a good ride for anyone who is returning to cycling after a break or would like to meet other women who ride bikes. On the outward journey we exit Nonsuch Park and pick-up the riverside path of the Hogsmill in Ewell. We will cross the Chessington Road and follow the trails in Horton Country Park. Then onto Epsom and Ashtead Commons. We will ride back across the Rookery, pass Woodcote Park RAC club and see pretty washboard cottages.

There is a mixture of quiet roads, riverside paths and tracks through parks and woodland. Some of the paths can be a bit muddy or slippery from wet leaves and bikes with off-road tyres are most suited to this ride.

Our café stop will be CoffeeActive in Ashtead. A popular cycling café which serves local craft coffees and teas plus delicious cakes and tasty lunches.

Please bring a helmet, water, spare inner tube, a small lock and money for the café stop. The weather at this time of year is changeable, so wear layers and bring a waterproof if rain is forecast. Make sure that your bike is in good working order and that the tyres are pumped up.

We never leave anyone behind; the plan is to enjoy being out on our bikes as a group and have cake along the way.
