Usually at this time of year, we'd run evening rides up to the pub... due to Covid-19, the pub stop is no longer on the agenda at the moment, but finally the rides are back on! Thanks for your patience with us while we've been on pause, and while we're getting to grips with the new British Cycling guidance for leading Breeze rides.

We'll be limited to small groups (five plus a leader) for the time being. This ride will be a chance to get the legs going again and to try riding in a small group, observing social distancing to keep us all safe. Join us on a gentle paced ride along the Prom and Crosby Coastal path to Formby Pinewoods (Lifeboat Road). There'll be a pit-stop at the half way point, so please bring a drink and a snack for yourself. I'll be bringing my flask to enjoy some hot coffee! There is no cafe and no facilities available at the Pinewoods, however we will stop at a large grassy clearing where we can sit outside and have a chat. After the pit-stop, we'll return on the same route. This is mostly traffic free, but there are some minor roads and the start and end of the route. If you're not confident on roads, don't worry - we'll ride safely and they are not busy roads. Any roadworthy bike will be suitable.

Sunset will be around 8.30pm so please make sure you have working lights if you will be cycling home after the ride. Remember it can be a bit breezy on the front, so a few layers will be best. I'll post a weather update to all participants on the day of the ride.

This ride is suitable for beginners and those who are looking forward to joining group rides again after the Covid-19 pause. We'll go at a comfortable pace, enjoying the beautiful scenery around us.

Newcomers to Breeze rides are very welcome! Don't worry if you don't know anyone, we're a friendly bunch. Please dress appropriately for the weather: in cool weather it's good to wear lots of thin layers, so you can add/remove them as needed; a rain jacket is a good idea too Wearing a helmet is advisable; if you don’t have one, please do not worry, you can still take part. If you enjoy the bike ride and would like to come again perhaps you could look to buy one then.

You are free to wear any Covid PPE that you feel may give you more confidence, but any face covering should not restrict your breathing during exercise. It's probably a good idea to bring gloves/hand sanitiser for your own personal use, should you touch anything on the ride and need to clean your hands.

I'm really looking forward to seeing everyone again after such a long time, and to welcoming new riders who may have dusted off their bikes during lockdown. Come and join us! I plan to make this a regular ride in due course, however at the moment my schedule is a little uncertain. For now, I'll add new dates one at a time when I can, and then set a regular repeat ride when I can.

Please note that you should not attend this ride if you or somebody you live with have symptoms of Covid-19, or have tested positive. I will send a message on the day of the ride to all participants asking for confirmation in advance.

Take in the beautiful coastal sights, and enjoy a pit-stop in Formby Pinewoods.

Mostly traffic-free, travelling North up the coast using shared paths and some minor roads. Any roadworthy bike will be fine!

Usually, our Summer evening rides up the coast are to the pub. At the moment, due to Covid-19, we're not stopping in cafes/pubs... however, we will be heading to a grassy clearing in the Pinewoods where we can take twenty minutes for a pit-stop and a socially distanced chat. Please bring a drink and a snack for yourself - maybe a flask if you'd like some coffee!

Helments are advised. Please bring lights if you plan to cycle home afterwards (sunset c.20:30), layers in case the weather changes, and a drink and a snack for our pit-stop. There are temporary toilets available near Crosby Leisure Centre, but none at Formby Pinewoods. Please bring gloves/facemask/hand sanitiser for your own personal use, in case needed.

First-timers welcome!
