Bootle Leisure Centre

This will be a grand day out adventure incorporating the fresh sea air, traffic free cycle paths and lots of nature. The route begins cycling out towards the coastal path, past the Gormley statues and through Crosby breathing in the fresh Irish Sea air. Continuing on the cycle paths you filter through Fornby, around the Ainsdale Sand Dunes National Nature Reserve and up to Ainsdale itself. Continuing on the cycle paths all the way to Southport where a much deserved refreshment stop can be had admiring the picturesque shoreline views. On the return the route ventures back via the loopline NCN62, miles of traffic free paths, to Netherton. From there you cycle along the Leeds-Liverpool Canal, past Rimrose Valley Country Park and back to the start.

The route is not fully suitable for road bikes however it is entirely your discretion if you know the surfaces and feel confident to ride on one. the majority of the surface is loose gravel.
